2023 IPA | Honorable Mention

Childhood in Paradise 1/1250, f2.8, ISO 100

International Photography Awards - HONORABLE MENTION (Professional Category: People, Children)

As a military kid, picking up and moving every year is hard. My son has changed schools 4 times and he's only 10. His friends are spread far and wide and family is over 5,000 miles away. The silver lining? Days like this one where we get to soak up the Hawaiian sun, forget our worries, and enjoy our time stationed in paradise.

I am thrilled to share that one of my images received Honorable Mention this year in the 2023 International Photography Awards!

I found out earlier this month that my image, “Childhood in Paradise” was an “Official Selection” in the Professional Category: People, Children. This meant that my image had made it to the final round of jury selection! I was floored. I never imagined it would then go on to receive an honorable mention two weeks later.

What is IPA? The International Photography Awards conducts an annual competition for professional, amateur, and student photographers globally, creating one of the most ambitious and comprehensive competitions in the photography world today. It is one of the most prestigious photo contests. They receive over 14,000 entries from 120 countries. The award ceremony will take place at the Lucie Awards Gala on October 30, 2023 at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

If you want to see the other images of the winners and finalists of 2023, here is the gallery.

Thank you so much to all of the judges and team at IPA! I am beyond honored to be included in this year’s collection!
