Well, the cat’s out of the bag!

Our family (and ALP) will be moving to Hawaii in December of this year. My husband, Bill has been assigned to Ft. Shafter in Honolulu on the island of Oahu and we’ll head that way just after Christmas. My booking calendar will close after November 21st to prep for our move.

As a photographer and military spouse it’s both joyful and devastating to move my business and family every few years. I get to experience living in so many wonderful places all over the country and as a photographer I get to photograph incredible locations and meet the wonderful people who live there and am privileged to call clients. On the other hand, I’m always torn with feelings of sadness for leaving the clients I’ve come to know personally and whose families I’ve watched grow. The latter, is the part of the process I am feeling as I write this. I know I’ll be excited when we board the plane in a few months — well, maybe not, an 11 hour flight with three kids is going to be terrible! 🤣 But when we land, I’ll get that familiar feeling of hope as we head into the unknown (cue Frozen II soundtrack!) of a new location, new places to photograph, and new people to meet.

I want my Northern Virginia clients to know that I have appreciated each and every one of you! You are the reason I get to do a job I love and have a schedule that keeps me home with my kids. I have enjoyed bonding with each of you over birth stories, parenting woes, and DC area life. Thank you for bringing even more joy to this job I love. I’m hoping in my last 6 months here that I can get in another session with many of you!

So there it is, our big announcement. I’ll be here booking sessions until just before Thanksgiving and then I’ll be buying flip-flops (or slippahs as Hawaiians call them) and purging all our winter clothes. If you’ll like to squeeze in one last session, I’d love to see you again and if you take a vacation to Oahu in the next 3 years, please look me up!
