Friday Photo Tip | Catchlights

One easy way to make sure the photos of your kids and family really shine is to make sure there are catchlights!

What’s a catchlight? — They’re those little reflections of light that appear in the eyes of your subject. The really add life to the face of your subject and can make your image pop!

To ensure there are catchlights in your subjects eyes, simply turn them into the light — or if they’re moving around, make sure you are photographing them with your back to the light so that they are facing it when you snap your image.

Now obviously in the examples below, I simply photoshopped the catchlights out of my son’s eyes in the second photo, but it allows you to easily see what a difference catchlights can make in bringing life to your photographs!
